All German students – Choir Performance – Best Overall Performance for their song “Komm gib mir deine Hand” (I wanna hold your hand) by the Beatles

Jordan Allen, Caleb Allen and Kemish Estrada were also honored at the language fair for scoring in the top 90% nationally on the National German Exam. Jordan scored in the top 98% and received a medal for his performance. Their teacher, Frau Jennifer Willoughby, was honored with AATG’s Duden award. It is given to a teacher who consistently has students perform well on the National German Exam.

Christian Minton Science Fair Winner

8th grader Christian Minton was awarded 1st place in the Microbiology division at the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair held at BYU in March for his project titled “Nitric Oxide Gas: Disinfecting Medical Instruments.” Christian was chosen as the Discovery Channel candidate and was one of only two students from Utah chosen to advance to the quarterfinals in Houston, a 1-week, all-expense-paid trip.

Katie Welton State Winner Arbor Day Poster Contest

Kindergarten student Katie Welton was chosen as the state winner for her grade in the Arbor Day Poster Contest sponsored by the National Forest Service. Katie’s poster is featured, along with 6 other grade winners and the grand prize winner, on a poster sent to participating schools statewide. Katie will receive a savings bond, t-shirt, and other smaller prizes. Katie is the daughter of Bryan and Jenny Welton.

Josh Crowther All Valley Team Member

Senior Josh Crowther was chosen by the Daily Herald as a member of the 2010 All Valley basketball team. Josh led the state in steals (5.38/game) and rebounds (11.1/game) in addition to scoring an average of 17.14 points and 2.67 assists per game. 1A division players are rarely chosen for the All Valley team and Josh’s nomination is the first for a boys team member in 8+ years.

Writing Rally Unites Math and Writing

Lower School students got a taste of the three R’s – Reading wRiting and aRithmetic – at this year’s Writing Rally. With the theme “(words + math) imagination = stories,” students spent three mornings in focus groups that advanced their writing skills and increased their imaginations.

Foreign Language Skits 2010

French, German, and Chinese students of all levels put both their language and acting skills to use in this year’s foreign language skits. Students were inspired by fairy tales and movies and added creative costuming to their hilarious performances.
